    Description(s):
    From 2009 to 2011, Xu Jirong, then a research student at Yunnan University, and Alexis Michaud had sustained exchanges about the phonological analysis of Ciending Naxi, Xu Jirong's native language. This resulted in a joint publication in 2012: Michaud, Alexis and Xu Jirong 徐继荣. Xiānggélǐlā xiàn Cìēndīng cūn nàxīyǔ yīnxì yánjiū 香格里拉县次恩丁村纳西语音系研究 [Research about the phonemic system of the Naxi dialect of Ciending village, Shangri-la prefecture]. Chama Gudao Yanjiu Jikan 茶马古道研究集刊 2. 139–165. The article contained a co-authored phonemic analysis, and a word list by Xu Jirong. On November 1st, 2013, Jirong agreed to record part of the vocabulary list (as Alexis was in Kunming on the way back from fieldwork). Some notations were corrected in the process. Due to time constraints (only one evening was available for this task), it was only possible to go through about one third of the list. This document provides phonetic evidence on this Naxi dialect, which presents some oppositions lost in some other dialects (see the article for details). Items are arranged roughly by alphabetical order: æ, b, ɕ, ç, d, ɖ... Many thanks to Mike Opper, a graduate student from Michigan University, in whose flat the recording was conducted, and who kindly provided mattresses and household linen to prop against the walls to decrease reverberation. Mike Opper and Meng Yang, a graduate from Ottawa University, were present during the recording.
