The five Limbu-Rai-Sunwar ancestors come to the hills from "Muktichhetra". (A Hayu ancestor is also mentioned in some tellings.) The Rai ancestor passes through a gate at "Takhrama-Khromalung" by killing the jureli bird that guards it. The Sunwar ancestor sacrifices his own younger brother to pass the gate. The Rai refuses to keep further company with a murderer, and they separate. The Sunwar goes up the Sun Kosi, the Rai up the Dudh Kosi.
