A short chain tale in Korandje about a little cat's plans and ambitions, recorded in Tabelbala from Zorah Assa (Adda?) by Dominique Champault, ca. 1950-1955. Transcribed, glossed, and translated by Lameen Souag in 2014-2022. See https://archives.crem-cnrs.fr/archives/items/CNRSMH_I_2003_009_070_01/ for recording metadata. This tale was widely known in Tabelbala, and versions of it are attested further afield across the range of the Ait Atta. The ending, however, varies according to the teller's taste. In this instance, it seems to represent a naive but sincere effort to underline that man does not live for bread alone.
قصة عن طموحات قط صغير سجلها دومينيك شومبو عن زهرة عسة (أو عدة) في أوائل الخمسينات من القرن العشرين، في واحة تبلبالة في جنوب الجزائر، باللغة المحلية كورانجي (كُآرانڎيي)، ترجمها الأمين سواق في سنتي 2014 و2022. أنظر أيضاً https://archives.crem-cnrs.fr/archives/items/CNRSMH_I_2003_009_070_01/. كانت هذه القصة معروفة في تبلبالة وخارجها عند قبيلة أيت عطة. وتختلف نهاية القصة حسب إرادة الراوية. نهاية القصة الحالية قد تبدو غريباً في عصرنا، لكن هدفها تذكير المستمع بأهمية التخطيط للآخرة لا للدنيا فقط.
Un conte sur les ambitions d'un petit chat, raconté en korandjé par Zorah Assa (Adda?) et enregistré par Dominique Champault à l'oasis algérien de Tabelbala entre 1950 et 1955, et transcrit et traduit par Lameen Souag en 2014-2022. Voir aussi https://archives.crem-cnrs.fr/archives/items/CNRSMH_I_2003_009_070_01/ . Ce conte est bien connu à Tabelbala ; il est attesté ailleurs chez les Aït Atta. Sa fin est très variable ; dans cette version-ci, il voudrait souligner (peut-être naïvement) l'importance de ne pas se limiter à des objectifs matérialistes.
