Résumé(s):
The collection assembles seven interviews with practicing beekeepers, recorded in September and October 2023 in the Kambaata-Xambaaro Zone in the Central Ethiopian Region. The interviews cover topics such as the beekeeping work cycle, the bee life cycle, the enemies of the bees, the skills and qualities of the beekeepers, the equipment and parts of the beehive, the plants that the bees feed on and the food that is provided by the beekeepers in times when no flowers are available, the types of honey that the bees produce, honey marketing, the influence of climatic change and changes in the environment on beekeeping, and the cultural and medicinal cultural significance of honey. The interviews focus mainly on traditional Kambaata beekeeping techniques. The interviews also contain information on the collection of wild honey, as it was practiced in the past and which is today practically no longer possible due to the deforestation of the Kambaata Zone.
